Fun Fact 3:
The U.S. military actually helped shape the modern life insurance industry.
During the Civil War, soldiers wanted to protect their families financially in case they didn’t return. This demand led to a boom in life insurance companies — and even inspired early versions of what we now call "Term Life Insurance"!

In Memory: Nathan Gage Ingram
March 22, 1996 – January 12, 2024
Nathan Gage Ingram, a courageous Navy SEAL from Roanoke, Texas, exemplified the highest ideals of service and sacrifice. At 27, he lost his life during a daring mission off the coast of Somalia, where he heroically attempted to rescue a fellow SEAL who had fallen into the sea while boarding a vessel smuggling weapons to militants in Yemen. Despite an exhaustive 10-day search, both men were declared missing and presumed deceased on January 12, 2024.
A 2014 graduate of Byron Nelson High School, Nathan pursued a degree in Kinesiology at Texas Tech University, graduating in 2019. Determined to serve his country, he enlisted in the Navy in September 2019, completing Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training in December 2021. He was assigned to SEAL Team THREE, where he quickly earned a reputation for his discipline, courage, and unwavering commitment to his teammates.
In recognition of his extraordinary heroism, Nathan was posthumously awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, the highest non-combat decoration for heroism. His actions during the mission exemplified the core values of Naval Special Warfare: integrity, courage, and selflessness.
Beyond his military achievements, Nathan was known for his infectious smile, boundless generosity, and a spirit that uplifted all who knew him. His legacy continues through the Nathan Gage Ingram Foundation, established by his family to support military families and honor his memory.
Nathan's life was a testament to the power of kindness, bravery, and service. He leaves behind a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
